Can anyone provide me with some information on how these two roles are different and the differences in responsibilities as well as compensation for a SAS software company.

Typically an AE role is responsible for landing new logo’s, sometimes also staying on the accounts and driving growth. AM’s are almost always tied to a set account list where they “broaden and expand” relationships and new lines of business and often work on renewals h less the team is large enough to have renewal specialists. There are hybrids but that’s the gist. AE is typically 50/50 base and commission. AM can also have the same comp model but will often have higher base but then lower upside in commission. Let me know how else I can help I’ve done both roles.

@chrizatch very thoughtful response thank you. Currently in sales engineering role, figuring it what is next...
