Have a screening interview tomorrow for an Audio Software Engineer position at Infinity Ward. Wanted to know what the interview process is like there? Any tips? Also, I've been reading here that Activision is not a great place to work and that's pretty discouraging for me. Not sure why people are saying that. Any insight or advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Why I Find Free Palestine Inspiring
Ex faang here. Epic can meet/beat FAANG pay with good work culture.
Hello @Epic games. I have a gaming background, would you be able to help with a referral?
Btw epic pay is no longer competitive with Faang after some massive bonus and benefits cuts this spring.
You're unfortunately applying to a very niche position so it's hard to say what you should expect. IW has a general catalogue of interview questions though. Fairly standard game industry stuff. Be sure to know C/C++ (IW sticks closer to the C side of C++), know things like struct padding rules in particular. CS fundamentals, queues, linked lists, searches, etc. Hardware/systems...know cache lines, threading/locking. Math, standard vector math such as dot products and probably some ray applications. Expect general behavioral questions. Why games? Are you passionate about games? If you move forward there, tech leadership is good and their engineers are largely very talented. The studio is run by a psychopath though. Pay will likely be lower than industry but bonuses will be large if you make it through ship and the game sells well (can be 6-figures) Good luck!
Well arent u excited to get paid half the amount to do twice the work? Work culture isnt great at game companies; but the other thing is that actiblizz hasnt made a good game in many years.
How long ago were you in the game industry? There's been a real culture shift in a lot of the studios I have connections at. Can't say for AB and its sub studios or other giants like Ubisoft. Pay won't be FAANG for a hard majority of them, but coming in with the assumption you won't get paid might just cause it to go that way. 200+ TC for a senior role isn't uncommon.
Some would call modern warfare 2 a pretty good game.
