Hi, I’m expecting an offer from Activision Blizzard for a Product manager role in the Bay Area. What should be my total comp expectations? Also, one of the reasons why I’m considering this company is because I’m hoping the deal with Microsoft will go through in 2023 and I’ll eventually become a Microsoft employee. Is this a reasonable expectation or am I day dreaming? #activisionblizzard #microsoft YOE: 9 years Current TC: 220k #productmanager #product #pm
Definitely a 50/50 chance the acquisition goes through, so it's not a bad gamble. Gaming doesn't have a big PM culture, but neither does Microsoft so it's hard to say what the comp offer will be. If I were you i'd try to aim for 20-30% above your current comp to make it worth it. Even if you get acquired, Microsoft doesn't pay all that well, and internal transfers between sub-companies can require a full interview loop (like LinkedIn), so don't get your hopes up. It should look good on the resume though for sure.
Bump
Is it true that a lot of people are joining Meta after quitting Activision Blizzard? Would working in Activision help us to get a Meta offer?
Hope you’re not joining ABM. That place is a shit show, especially the product team. What did your offer look like?
Haven’t made up my mind yet. Total comp is around 210k which is not that great imho. Why do you say it’s a shit show there?
I work as an engineer on the data team there. The lead product manager I work with is terrible. Toxic. Other product teams aren’t terrible but still bad
Total comp was around 210K.
Why did you take this pay cut?
Hi OP. Did you end up getting an offer from Blizzard? Do you mind to share ?
Yes I did. Currently an ABM employee.
Do you enjoy working there? What's the culture and wlb like?
Hi Op, if you don’t mind can I dm you with a few questions?
What level were you op?
Reasonable expectation. Negotiate your RSU's like that WONT be the case and then get that nice bump in value on the close. Can't speak to comp expectations, but don't be surprised if it's lower. Blizzard especially has a rep for low gaming pay
