Adderall/Vyvanse and security clearances?

For the longest time, I have had struggles with attention, but recently it has gotten pretty ridiculous. I am contemplating going to talk to my doctor about it, and see if medication is the right route. However, I just got told my a company that they are putting in for my TS clearance and I am starting the process shortly. I am wondering if being diagnosed with ADHD/ADD or being prescribed and taking medication for it will hinder me from getting my clearance. Any experience with this?

As long as you're honest, this won't be an issue.

Yeah that's what I thought, I've just seen some people who were saying back in the day it was. Times have changed though, not every mental health issue means you're a psychopath. Thanks for the input!

No worries @oathluvr I know how it feels to just need a little assurance, good luck!

they can definitely deny clearances based on medical issues. will they? I don't know. it probably depends on whether there is any other iffy stuff in your packet. the criteria gets more strict and arbitrary if you'll also be put up for any special access programs.

A side note about helping to control your attention span that you may already know. These are things I have found help: to be well rested excercise hobbies to have a balanced diet to have a balanced home life small mental breaks

Medications like that arent part of the SF86. I never had to let anyone know to get my TS.

There is no issue. Was on Vyvanse, Adderall and other ADD meds. If you are diagnosed you are fine. Before a poly do not take them though. I failed one on my meds.
