Hi Blinders, I am new to Blind and making my first post for my very close friend, so please bear with me and give your thoughts on this situation. One of my close friends got a feedback from Google Onsite almost 4 weeks after her interviews saying that to have a chance with HC she need to do one more interview. She did really well on most of the interviews and well on 1 of the interviews, no single bad interview. There was also a mix up in her interview topics. The recruiter promised to come back to her 1 or max 2 weeks after the interviews. So, after she sent him an email( 2 weeks after the interview since she didn’t received any) asking for a feedback, right in that hour the recruiter has updated her status and came back to my friend 4 weeks after the interview with email saying that to have a chance with HC she will need to do 1 more interview “soon”. (The recruiter has been radio silent during all that time and didn’t give a single update during that period. Basically he read her email and updated her status but didn’t reply to her during all that time.) This decision has not been made by the HC since the documents have not been shown to the HC during all this time and as one of the reasons of delay the recruiter gave is “one of the interviewers went on holiday without submitting the feedback”. What do you think, all these things plus not giving the set of all question examples like others get and sending short email 4 weeks later asking for 1 more interview in few sentences, is it normal? Is this a common practice at Google? #Google
Happens at times though not common. Keep looking for other opportunities than just sticking arnd with this one
Thanks pepsicool, will forward your advice!
I am not sure about google, but it might happen for very few. It happened for me, finally got positive result. Hope for the good
Thanks for the feedback, the end result is indeed what matters. Happy that you got a good result at the end!
Set of all question examples?
Yes, if you read online and speak to Googlers they will you will tell you that you get example questions about what to expect during the interviews, you found the rest of the story conventional?
Wasn't aware about it. Like not the topics but example questions? No, didn't find it conventional. People I've known have had immediate responses and proactiveness from recruiter's side. Haven't heard such a case before.
My experience was very bad with Google recruiters. They were taking their own sweet time after interview and during team matching process. Everytime I have to send them email and then only they will do anything. Whenever I send them email they will bring more crap teams to match. Finally I gave up and told them that I have signed offer with another company as I can't wait this long.
Thanks for sharing your experience! I think that there should be a reason for this patter. They sure don’t do it for nothing. Does it mean that they have their own “candidate” and they just use the candidates? (And then if you do the interviews good they either make you reject yourself or ask for more interviews so that you fail eventually?)
My experience above also. One interviewer took 4 weeks to complete feedback (not on vac). It is not unusual for HC to request more interview data so push to get that missing interview.
The problem is that this case is worse, he didn’t submitted the case to HC after 5 rounds of interviews and he decided himself to ask for additional interview. What you describe is indeed a common practice, when HC asks for additional Interview but it is not common at all to ask for additional interview before showing it to the HC.
Wow at LinkedIn we submit feedback within 24-48 hours.
I think you won the prize for the least said with such long text
What do you mean? If you can share your experience or advice then please do, otherwise we are not interested in bullying!
Lol sorry, I couldn’t resist. I didn’t read the full text and comments but from my experience this can work well for you. I know a couple of ppl that received offers after follow up interviews although they were down leved.
Is it a possibility that your friend had only 4 rounds? For me i gave 4 initially then recruiter after going over packet said that there are few comments in couple of interviews, so to sort it out let’s have one more before going to HC. Is it similar?
Thanks for sharing your experience! I double checked it with her and she says 5 full interviews(including 1 Googlyness) and before that 1 successful tech screen. If I may ask, did you end up getting an offer after that interview?
I was asked for 2 additional interviews despite very positive feedback on the onsite. It seems like they are only asking women for additional interviews 🙁
Thank you for your feedback! Sorry to hear about your experience and your impression about gender discrimination. Being asked to do extra interviews by HC happens more and more often but that the Recruiter himself decides about it and also all the other unacceptable behavior is not common and indicates about his misconduct.
My recruiter told me strong signal for l4 and send to HC. And HC called for additional interviews citing easy questions.
"asking for a friend" Just ask already! It's blind!
Does not sound common, my own interview experience was excellent and communication was always very quick. But i think that can happen that someone doesnt submit feedback on time but that sucks. My recruiter was contacting the interviewers to make sure they submit quickly since she knew i had another competing offer.
Thanks for the feedback! Her recruiter has not communicated with her at all after the interview and as far as I know the recruiter didn’t even asked her about her other interview statuses
