Only those that have worked at both Adobe and Amazon please.. care to share any insights, regrets, pros cons ? I'm trying to get a realistic idea of work life balance, career opportunities, salary, benefits, culture etc thanks !
Ex Adobe here Amazon pros- Better work quality Flexibility in switching teams Cons No free food Don't get time for volley, tennis etc Adobe is awesome in terms of WLB. In Amazon You can get paged at 1am and may be expected to work overnight to fix sev1s Lot's of operational issues- this is team specific. Every 4-5 months team reorg happens and you will have lots of manager change Performance review system in Amazon is broken. Its very easy to get PIP here. You job in Adobe is secure. This is not the case with Amazon. One mistake and viola, your manager get data points to put you in coaching plan.
Ex Amazon here. I have a life now. /mic drop
They both suck. Everybody uses Gimp instead of Photoshop
Gimps Gimp. Shops ‘shop
What's the TC diff b/w Adobe n Amazon? Can you share your TC with yoe? I was in Amazon as well and decided that it's not worth it and moved to oracle, much better wlb and tech I work on is great. Would do this all over again every time. Only regret is I didn't let my shares vest at Amazon but screw that life.
Interned at Amazon AWS. Worked at adobe for 2 years Amazon has interesting, but grueling work. My team seemed overworked all the time - never ate lunch together and just worked the entire days. Adobe has much more laidback culture with pretty nice people. Some teams/orgs are a pain to work with but in general people are smart and kind. I think the type of work varies between teams though - if you join the wrong org/team you can be working on pretty shitty and uninteresting systems.
Could somebody also share what would be the matching level at Adobe for an L6 at amazon? This is urgent.
Ex adobe here.. Pros of amazon. Way more smarter people Work is super interesting depending on the team Amz stock and pay is better Less politics compared to my old team there Cons: Cannot coast or take it easy Work life balance is similar but slightly higher stress Less dumb ppl to bullshit your way to the top Bigger teams so have to work better and sometimes less visibility Overall the best decision of my life so far
