Which is more likely to layoff a SWE over the next 12-24 months? (Northrop with a secret security clearance) 5-8 yoe #engineering #software #swe #northropgrumman #northropgrummanlayoff #adobe #adobecareers I would love to hear your reasoning in the comments. 🙏

Aren’t defense contractors at the mercy of whatever projects they have funding for from the government?
This is the way. That being said, if you are a SWE, you won’t have a problem finding a new project, but companies like NG are not great at reallocating resources, leave a lot of that up to the employee. SWE are always in demand, some skill sets in higher demand then others, but generally, if you are a competent SWE, you’ll get picked up quickly. Upgrade to a TS, you will have more leverage in the defense contracting job market.
Adobe has already been doing silent layoffs since the beginning of this year. So the probability of getting laid off is higher in Adobe.
Adobe silently laid off many innocent engineers... If you join Adobe, forget job security..
I assume DoD contractors are more recession resistant but I could be wrong.
They are definitely more recession proof. Plus we are possibly going to war in the next five to ten years. Even if it is just a rumor, it keeps the money flowing. It’s hard to come to grips that you are killing people though. I couldn’t do it personally.
