I’m an EE Interning at SCE and graduating next Fall, I’m trying to pivot my career towards tech or bigger companies in general. I got referred at Apple, Boeing, NASA and a couple more companies. I’m trying not to waste this opportunity, are covers letters important? If not, is there any advice you have for an aspiring Engineer? #engineer #tech
No one reads cover letter in Bay Area. I never uploaded one.
Overall though I wouldn't waste my time, believe in the numbers game ... The more you apply the greater hit rate you have. If almost no hits or few, revise resume or get experience listed on the reqs more. Best of luck.
Thank you for the advice and the wishes!
A brief cover letter never hurts, don’t babble too much or repeat your resume in it. My advice would be to stay away from the aerospace sector & federal jobs if you want to make a bunch of money.
I don't bother with cover letters anymore after realizing they never made it to me as an interviewer. I get plenty of responses to my resume
I barely skim resumes. Make your resume very scannable and, if you want to lie, make sure it’s hilarious.
If you're specifically qualified for a position very well in the reqs and want to describe more detailed experience to put them over the top or you have some specific thing like saying you don't want relocation. Then I would do it.
