Asking for a friend - they have offers from the following, looking for advice on what to go with! Currently they haven't negotiated with any of the below, but wanting to understand how the below look. SoFi - Senior SWE - 180k base, 250k stock vesting over 4 years Meta - Business Engineer IC4 - 160k base, 250k stock vesting over 4 years, Discretionary joining bonus Microsoft - Software Engineer 2 - Got offer, but details TBD Walmart - Software Engineer 2 - 140k base, 20k joining bonus, 25k (yes, really) over 4 years Amazon - Awaiting results, but interview went well - Walmart not considering at all. - While Meta would have been great, this Business Engineer role is perhaps career suicide for SWE? (please give advice Meta folks!) - Microsoft teams interested are Azure DevOps and CXP - SoFi role is good, but wanting to understand company culture and lookout - Amazon interviewed with Alexa team, so wanting to again understand culture and WLB in this team. Before giving him any suggestions, just think about what he want to do , as i feel first 2 options as an best options but both needs different skill sets, first choose the right one which works for him and go with that because every company listed here is an big techs you will have a prosperous future if he choose what he like to do

What team at SoFi?
+1 I’m not a SWE but I assure you this matters. If you’ve been offered something by one of the lending business units, go for it. Invest/Money/Credit Card might keep you on your toes more, so do it if that sounds fun. Lantern/At Work/Protect, I’d take my chances at Meta instead. Comms Eng or MarTech, please join if you think you can fix those teams, but their turnover is a red flag and it hurts every other team that relies on them (sorry not sorry).

Could you share more details about Business Engineering at Meta? Very different opinions in the loop? Some said they code a lot, some said they hadn't written a line of code in months. 😲
