Advice on Current Role

So I left panw around 3-4 months ago for a unicorn that IPO’d some months ago. But lately, I’ve been feeling somewhat frustrated about this new position and I’m kind of unsure of what to do. Some pros and cons: Pros: 1. TC is good for the area. I’m not in California or an HCOL city anymore either, and I’m permanently remote. 2. Company’s stock has potential. 3. People on the team are good and I do not work in a toxic environment by any means. Get along pretty well with all my coworkers, leadership, etc. No risk of pip, layoffs, or anything like that. 4. I am allowed to work on whatever I want, and am learning some new stuff to an extent. There’s also no micromanagement here which is always a plus. Cons: 1. I got downleveled, which I didn’t think was a big deal when joining, but I’m starting to see that part of the company’s culture is over-emphasizing the importance of levels. They’re nice people, but I feel that they completely ignore my past experience and well, treat me like a child I feel. It’s not very motivating and makes me feel resentful to be honest. 1a. This was my only interview, other than a karat interview for another company that I passed. I couldn’t do the other onsite because of these guys’s exploding offer. I prepped quite a bit, but I was not getting any other calls at the time for some reason. 2. This could be a pro, but for me it’s not. There’s actually barely any work here (I’m working sub 30 hrs/week), just some config stuff here and there, but barely any coding while it was supposed to be a swe role. 3. The manager, who was one of the main reasons why I joined the company and the team actually, is leaving. I’m pretty sure I know what the new manager is going to be like. Old team at PAN was good, was there for a while and I left on good terms. But I wanted a change. I really need advice here but feel free to troll if you’d like. Is it too early to even have an opinion and should I wait some more? Should I continue focusing on this current job and maybe talk to management? Treat this as a paid vacation and start looking now, later? If I start looking, exactly what do I say to interviewers about leaving early, but more importantly would it be hard for me to get interviews right now? I kind of did start LC’ing again, but I’m unsure what to do. Any advice would be appreciated. TC: 260k (Flyover state) #career #engineering #jobfit
