Advice on landing first job in data

Hello, I am looking for your advice on landing my first job in data. My background: I have a bachelors in commerce from well-known university in Canada. Worked 2 years in financial analysis roles and 3 years in audit at a mid size public accounting firm. I got my CPA. Currently taking a part time Masters in Analytics online from Georgia Tech. Iโ€™m hoping to transition into a data analyst role or internship to start but finding it difficult to qualify without enough work experience using SQL or Python. Iโ€™m proficient in Excel and Tableau, and good enough to write Joins in SQL. Can write for loops in R. I am good at financial modeling too (although thatโ€™s more of a finance skill). Been thinking it may be easier for me to first find either audit, sr accountant, or financial analyst jobs then try for data roles later. Would love to work in the US but understand it might be hard to land something as a non-citizen. Iโ€™m open to hearing any of your honest advice and any recommendations. Referrals are also much appreciated. Thank you in advance! TC ๐Ÿฅœ YOE accounting/finance 5 YOE data 0 #data #dataanalytics #datascience #advice #finance #accounting #referrals
