Hello community, I have been in the aersopace/defense sector all my professioal carrer (~8 years), first at NASA now at Lockheed. I am interesed in a change of scenery (and yes, a better compensation) thus the tech sector. What would be the companies I need to be looking at? If it helps, I have an undergrad and phd in mech enginering, specializing in materials and manufacturing. No need for visa ans open to all US locations (prefer the NE region).

What was your PhD thesis ? Just curious
Amazon Kuiper apparently has lots of ex NASA aerospace folks
Blue Origin/SpaceX are still aero but more of a startup pace if that interests you
Autonomous drone companies ran and funded like tech companies Or Anduril
Amazon Kuiper is aerospace and tech together. It’s certainly an entry point to the tech world. I work with some Lockheed folks here at Kuiper. I wouldn’t personally recommend it for long-term, but it can certainly get your foot into the tech door.
Do you have a clearance? If you have a clearance (or are clearable, but it’s not as good) Amazon is hiring in droves if you have any skills remotely technical, they’re literally training Arab linguists to be technicians cause of the cleared talent shortage I came to Amazon from the defense sector and it’s a chill team and they’re even upgrading my clearance, plus extra pay and bonuses 💰
