Just got invited to do a first round interview for a backend position with Affirm. I was given the choice of a backend take home assignment or a technical phone screen. The phone screen sounds like the standard DS&A hour long interview, the take home assignment however is different. The recruiter says it is due back 24 hours after they send it, but it normally takes around 3 hours. Does anyone have any experience with the take home assessment? Not looking for details of the question or anything, but like generally what topics it covers and stuff. I assume not DS&A?
I would go with the phone screen to save time. The take home does indeed takes at least 3 hours. It involves a decent amount of reading, algorithm, code structuring, maybe answering some questions as well.
Yeah. Unless you know you don’t perform well under pressure, you might as well save your own time
Have a phone screen with them, are the questions level leetcode hard or medium? For phone and onsite?
I haven't done mine yet but I found a few examples in leetcode discussions.
I did a phone interview and I was rejected because the interviewer expected a solution that he knew and I gave a working solution that he wasn’t familiar with 😆
Similar experience, I answered the question and finished testing with 10 mins to spare, still got rejected. Apparently he was not happy with my culture fit answer (the guy was new grad with 1.5 years of experience 😆). No wonder their stock is tanking. Anyways had no plan to join was treating this as practice interview for my upcoming interviews.
Any guidance as to what the questions were or what to review? My phone interview is tomorrow.
Anyone?
Not off to a good start. To get noticed at all here above the constant background of people shouting about this or that thing to hype it up, you have to say something super controversial or angry. The reasonable and well-considered tone won’t get you very far.
Seems to have gotten the attention of someone who may be able to provide insight, at least.
