Have a return offer from Yelp and an offer from Affirm. Unsure about which company is the best to start my career at :/
Affirm all the way. Much faster growth, learning, better network and pre-IPO. Yelp financials are public. Healthy but much slower growth.
How does the offers look like? TC?
what about other companies
IIRC Yelp is Python heavy whereas Affirm uses Ruby a lot, you might want to decide on that.
It totally depends on your personal desires/goals. If you are just maximizing for cash, or you want a bit more stability, or you think your manager/team is better at Yelp that might be better. If you plan to be around Silicon Valley startups for a while, you want the opportunity for advancement/responsibility sooner, or you want to stay in fintech, Affirm would be the smarter bet.
you’re better off with affirm. Yelp pays the lowest in the industry and career growth depending on how much you kids ass. lol
Yelp has a reputation for being a great place to start a career, then (unfortunately) leave after a few years to make more money elsewhere. But in terms of grooming new grads into fully formed software engineers, Yelp is pretty excellent at that. Do not know much about Affirm. Except that MaxL was a big backer of Yelp in the early days.
Yelp
I would recommend Affirm. New grads have done well here. The good ones have grown very fast. I find most of my peers to be humble and talented. I would also recommend that you consider what you want to do.. join a fast moving startup if you want the experience and impact. The bigger the company, lesser your impact. Smaller the company, bigger the demand on you
Probably yelp
