Asking as a ABK employee as it seems close to reality as this point #gaming
If ABK stays as limited integration studio I imagine very little will change at least for a few years
Yes. But I bet it depends if you operate separately like LinkedIn or just get folded in completely to MSFT.
If we ever get Starcraft III - I will be the happiest man alive. And there's hope, cuz MS does AoE.
Besides stock conversion I don’t think you’ll see much. I think they’re going to leave Activision as a limited integration studio (although would be nice if they made it first party, id love to internal transfer)
I was part of an acquisition…the first couple months/year are full of parties and unlimited morale budget. Lots of travel to the other offices for networking. After a certain period, it all goes away and you get swallowed into the machine via reorg. Enjoy it while it lasts!
This is it. Year 1 is more or less BAU, year 2 is when you’re absorbed.
My company was acquired by MSFT, but it's a wholly owned subsidiary, meaning we have our own payroll, HR etc. For us, what changed, over the course of a few years: - 50% 401k match (Before it was a sad 4% or something like that) - Wellness credit, but less than what MSFT employees get - More wellness days - MSFT employee discounts in the employee store What didn't change: - Pay is nowhere near MSFT for the same jobs based on levels.fyi data - Profit sharing is abysmal - No stocks or even employee stock purchase program - No student loan repayment plan - No HSA - No unlimited PTO (This is actually a good thing from my perspective) There are definitely a bunch more benefits I don't even know about at MSFT that we don't have. Unfortunately, we also get directly impacted by MSFT layoffs.
We have student loan repayment plans at Microsoft?
Ah my bad, I meant tuition reimbursement.
What's MS alcohol at work and at xmas parties policy? We got saddled with zero tolerance for alcohol in the office and two drink max at company events after the clowns at Blizzard fucked it for everyone else. Also, how much DEI propaganda do you have to endure over there?
I can’t answer the other two because we haven’t had in person company events since I’ve been here (almost 2 years) and I work remotely…but there’s a good amount of DEI stuff part of new hire training but after that not much. There is a DEI section on our connects (like performance review interface) but in my org the managers basically ignore it. I don’t even know if you guys will be using that since I think you’re going to retain your HR and their processes
