For a notoriously brutal job with no WFH, always being at the beck and call of the union, and dealing with the hot sun and harsh quotas? No, thanks. I’ll stick with my remote consulting job. I’m happy for these workers, but you couldn’t pay me enough to do this job. TC: 105K
Lool bruh 105k for a consultant sucks, you can’t even make it to a decent consulting firm, you likely couldn’t get the UPS job either 😂
Easy there avocado toast no need to be so rude
FedEx, DHL, USPS and Amazon are gonna need to hike their rate as well, and all shipping costs will become more expensive. I'm cool with that, unsure how it impacts businesses and other people though
No more free shipping
Like streaming services and everything else, they hike their rates regardless? It takes very little
Too much variability in package sizes. It’ll take them half a century to automate this job away and it will cost a fortune.
How though? Unless we can move the packages faster, you’ll probably still need the same amount of drivers
You are a couple of days late.
Yes, people can only talk about news the day it happens!!!!
Yep. Blue collared jobs typically pay pretty well in western societies, as they should.
Well we at least can do a half decent job. Can UPS drivers do our jobs ?
Unpopular take. UPS drivers are the worst of all delivery services. Worse than USPS
Such a bad take
Yup, it’s a bad, bad take. UPS > Prime + USPS (but appropriately so based on price/expected level of service) Then there are the rest 😬… like fedex… 🥴
Well if they got paid this much, UPS will increase its shipping fee and customer will go to FedEx and usps. Then UPS will loose it’s market share and will have layoff. Those people will need to join FedEx for a lower salary. By the end of the day their salary is decided by the market not even the CEO
Unless the leadership will digest the increased labor cost internally but that’s very unlikely imo
It really depends on the margins.
Very happy for these workers, them, janitors, public service workers, etc are the people that are really keeping this society running. It make sense to pay them $170K instead of some tech interns whose job is changing colors of buttons all day.
I disagree with this. The tech intern is more valuable to society over the long run and can be developed into something greater than “changing colors of buttons” which is more complex and complicated than package delivery or even admin work. Just because grunt jobs are vital to society running doesn’t mean that they should be paid like it, especially when the barrier to entry is much lower than tech.
Fundamentally, they are essential workers. They bring more value to regularly people than most tech workers in my opinion
Gtf out of town. 170k!! Thats more than 95% of Americans. Where can I apply, I'd love to just drive around all day listening to podcasts
Ups.com/careers obviously
Learn to read full articles man. It’s 105k without benefits. And that too from 5th year of implementation.
That's a good thing. Also it includes all the benefits etc
Right on benefits. Wrong on max . It’s the average
It is not the average, and it DOES include benefits. The highest cash paid “Base” is around 96k, outside of that everything is overtime. Tons of UPS drivers explain this on TikTok.
