It looks like 400k is is an awesome TC which is in top 1% income in US. Wondering if there is point in aiming for more because it doesn't go much further (very few people gets 500k or more I guess) and then you need to get out of your comfort zone and start from scratch. TC: 340k
Every dollar at that point is worth .50 cents with the marginal tax rate. Diminishing returns set in for sure.
400 is not enough in Bay Area, NYC, etc. $1M+ is barely comfortable if you have a family
1m for a family is barely comfortable now? Jesus Christ
Yep 😕
Lot of people make 500+. Any staff level or higher position in several of the large companies will push you above. If you are happy with 400k, good for you! :)
:) but I feel like blind is showcasing very rare set of offers, not the norm even though blind make you believe this is common. One of my friend actively searching for job was telling that it is very difficult to get good offers.
Yeah, ‘lots’ of people also make billions. Any founder of the Fortune 500 companies will push you above. There are like hundreds of them? That’s a lot already.
No
TC or GTFO
That is a good point!
Liked for username lmao
it s a personal choice. i have crossed 400k mark and happy about that. but in order to retain i may still need to stay focused but definitely better than working on a promotion.
yes
If you want to keep working, it's enough. But but if you want to retire in a few years and live off dividends... You might need more. Especially with kids and health insurance cost when you're not working
1% in the bay is at least 2.6m so yes if you don't want to feel poor.
Op talking about TC here.. not nw.
This is TC...as in the 1% earned 2.6m in a year. This is for 2016 which is the last time the irs published data so my assumption is this is now a bit low.

Why doesn't OpenAI offshore and reduce expense by 80%
Isn't all Google L6 or equivalent in other companies all have TC 500+
Is this applicable for all Google locations ?
But how many staff engineers are there overall? For example Amazon has less than 1000 principal engineers out of,say, 80k engineering population.
