Why I Find Free Palestine Inspiring
I am about to start my interview with Square. I have 6.5 YOE in total with 3 YOE at G. Currently still L4 but should get promotion within this year. Do I have a chance to go for square L6? Note: Google’s promotion is just too bullshit at this point, too many people going up for promotion so you’re put into a queue. 270k
Not getting l6 as an l4
I see. What’s the highest TC I can aim for L5 remote LCOL city then?
Not true, depends on the work. Source: I did it, but turned down the offer
Anything's possible. However it seems it would be difficult to pass the leadership bar unless you've acted as a technical leader for a team as an L4 at Google.
I see. Do you know how much I can get for a L5 remote LCOL city? Is 300k too much?
300K is a typical HCOL L5 offer in today’s market
If you know how to present yourself and your work nicely, you have a chance. If soft skills are not your forte, then it's very unlikely even if you did senior-eng level work all the time.
Thanks for the advice. Do you know how much I can ask for a L5 LCOL city? Is 300k reasonable?
Yes.
Just don’t mention your level and you’d be fine. There’d be a leadership round which you can mostly bullshit through. You have enough yoe for L6.
Yes, I made this mistake in the leadership interview. But I was asked directly, since the interviewer worked in the same company previously :(
Experience might be little less for L6, in your interview you really need to show your leadership skills to be considered for L6. Also team should have requirement for L6 which is kind of tough in this market
