I am curious if this is a general trend or things are especially chaotic right now? #airbnb
Move on, nothing to be frustrated. Anyone can ghost anytime until you get an offer or even after getting the offer.
Sure, but have you ever been through FB, Goog, process? I have walked away from both, and I get a call every year, and I take it. Even though the outcomes have not been favorable, the recruiting experience makes me take the call every year. Also have been rejected by both:) My interviewing record is consistently, inconsistent.
Yes i know google, fb process. And i even have an offer from fb. I know what you mean. But sometimes fb recruiters also ghost. Amazon recruiters are the worst in that regard. So I normally do not take them seriously
This is why I stick with hotels
Ghosting interviewees must be unlawful. Every employer expects interviewees to be professional, honest and thorough but not all Employers extend that courtesy. They don’t recognize the time, efforts and thought a candidate puts from finding the right role to making it to onsite, doing their best and waiting indefinitely to hear from an HR. I am sorry that OP has to deal with it.
Thanks! I am fortunate to have options, but I agree, the anxiety can be relentless. It is unfortunate, as this is a great opportunity for Airbnb to show commitment to their own creed. To be hospitable. I still love the product though.
Airbnb recruiters were super flaky when I interviewed in the Fall. I legit heard nothing for 10 days after phone screen until they emailed me to schedule an onsite. And after onsite didnt hear back for another 2 weeks. Their process is a mess.
Thanks Oxp, this is helpful.
What position are you going for? For junior swe basically no headcount from what I've heard
Thanks, RW, and I wish! If I knew then what I know now, I would travel more
Yes, its a bit slow compared to last year. Hang in there
Airbnb is gonna be in huge trouble this year / next. Read their internal blind and you’ll be glad that you’re ghosted. Their engineers are among the most inexperienced and the interview process is among the most ridiculous. I got an offer from them but the whole interview experience utterly killed my interest in them.
Same with me. Ghosted after both OAs
hc is very limited now.
Thanks, Akwis. That would make sense. But why interview? I would think that the recruiter would respect HM's time, if not the candidates. Airbnb is one of the very few products that bring long-lasting joy to their customers — replicating that for recruiting would reinforce the commitment to core values. Quelle Dommage. Perhaps the recruiters are overwhelmed, and they will sort it out post the gold rush.
