Hi, Negotiating offer with Airbnb and the recruiter told me that Airbnb next vest periods starts on Aug 25th. But according to him, if you start ANYTIME in August you still get to start vesting from Aug 25th. As opposed to having to wait for Nov vesting to begin. For personal reasons I’d prefer to start toward the end of August especially if I still get to start vesting on Aug 25th. Anyone from Airbnb able to confirm this? Thanks. TC: 800k EDIT: lots of people asking about new TC. Don’t have final numbers.

It’s off by a few days why are you optimizing this? Fb vests on 8/15 and Airbnb on 8/25. Isn’t it perfect for you?

Do you think random employees on blind know more than HR? It’s the risk you’ll have to weigh, just like every other company that vesta quarterly
Read the offer when they send it. I changed my start date when I had the final contract in hand since it made it very clear what happens for vesting. I moved my start date forward to get earlier vest. If memory serves you would need to start before Aug 25 2021 to have tour cliff end on August 25 2022. Not any time in august. Before august 25. Maybe things have changed… lots has happened both within Airbnb (ipo) and with external market conditions.

If it isn’t in writing in your contract then it isn’t real. That’s it. Not a matter of “trusting the recruiter”. Read and trust the contract you sign. If they want to do something special here then it will need to be put in writing. The reason I’m being pedantic here is that I would NOT trust the recruiter. Not that they’re untrustworthy, but just that it isn’t their job to understand the nuance of complex legal contracts. That’s on you / your personal attorney. Might sound overkill but if you have any doubt then a lawyer will pay themselves back 50 times over if it saves you making an error here.
False. It backtracks and starts counting on 8/25 if you join before 8/25.
