The job market is absolutely brutal right now
2nd biggest eng office. Biggest focus is support, but there’s other stuff too.
Do you have any recommendations on teams?
Left quite a while ago at this point so not really, don't really remember who's there anymore and even if I did it's probably changed. Like I said I know a lot of support engineering teams are up there. Airbnb has huge customer support costs so team works on things like tools for support agents (airbnb has its own custom tool for agents to manage reservations and users and tickets, it's actually one of the highest code quality code bases I've ever worked in), self service tools so people don't call, ticket routing, support chatbot, etc. There's good impact to be had there due to huge potential cost savings. So overall impression of the org is good, they can be slow moving and conservative though (but that's also a lot of airbnb). That said, even though I worked on some related projects and there's some interesting eng challenges to be found, personally I don't think it's the most interesting area. But that's just me.
