PM is irrelevant role and will die in next 2-3 years.
I was given a range when chatting about an offer (i.e. for my level, the range for base salary is X to Y) and curious if it’s typical to negotiate beyond Y or only within the range? My current base is close to Y. Any other negotiation tips welcome! I have another offer too for similar level but it’s much lower. TC: 300k #airbnb #negotiation
U need a maths teacher for this algebra problem.
I’m in here trying to solve for Z
You ask for what makes you happy… let them negotiate you down
Go beyond Y. Worst case, they will save no, or get pretty close to Y.
How was the interview? I’ve first round coming up soon. I heard they ask very hard graph problems
Not SWE
The best answer to the Trolly Problem question in the culture round is “I’d switch the tracks if you ask me to and tell everyone you didn’t ask me to and had no prior knowledge of my actions.”
Negotiate top of base. You will likely get a ton more traction on the RSUs, which have a lot more upside than just base salary, so include that in your negotiations.
We have ranges that are public now. They will not pay outside those ranges. There is some flexibility w/ RSU and signing bonuses (extremely rare now).
Oh, can you share the links, please. (Or did you mean the info in blind and levels fyi)
Oh you meant the base comp published in the job description
Do X Y Z
Didn’t have to negotiate. The recruiter gave me max on the band across base/equity and a sign on bonus. New TC is 367.
Welcome!
Nice upgrade. Welcome to the team!
