Airbnb/early airbnb employees

With many leaders leaving recently or even after the mass layoffs, how are you feeling about the IPO?

Airbnb AirEveryWr Sep 17, 2020

Lot of opportunities to make impact.

Facebook fhjghjj Sep 17, 2020

Why do you guys always ask LC hard? Is it because a lot of the problems are super hard to solve at Airbnb?

Airbnb AirEveryWr Sep 17, 2020

Unfortunately in tech industry, Eng Interview questions never has anything to do about with actual work. Most of the people in any company is not doing a ground breaking work even in google and Facebook but they all ask LC hard questions

All those leaders have enough RSUs/options so it's not a loss for them anyway

The leader that left today is an old timer though.

A 10-year veteran is no joke. You, my man, have some serious insider scoop, huh!

Airbnb AyGandalf Sep 18, 2020

I felt it he was in a token role in the end but I’ve never worked with him. Not sure if it was fully his decision either as that’s now 5 of the Eteam gone in as many months. All are white so should help with the diversity efforts

Facebook itt OP Sep 18, 2020

He was white?

Airbnb AyGandalf Sep 19, 2020

I don’t know what box he personally checks on the U.S Census but if his parents are Iranian, ‘White’ is the typical selection for people of that heritage

There are so many senior hires from G and F now that old timers feel left out. They have already made their money so no point in sticking around if you don't like the work

Facebook itt OP Sep 21, 2020

Sounds like they are incompetent if you ask me. There are a lot of early hires in leadership positions who don’t know how to do their jobs so they often felt threatened by talent coming in from FANG.

Airbnb bj58wj Sep 21, 2020

Yep. That's what i mean. This true for all places. Early employees are not always great unless founders have a solid track record.
