Worse comes to worse, as in I fail my remaining interviews, should I stay at Akamai or go to Symantec? In either case, I’ll still be interviewing again after 6-9 months. Akamai: 117,300 base 10% bonus, 47k/4 years rsu Symantec: 130,000 base 10% bonus, 15k signing bonus and 25k/4 years RSU The only gripe I have about Symantec is that this position I need to solve customer issues and provide patch fixes for them. I can probably learn a lot from working on the different issues on the products, but I don’t like issue fixing. I’ll just be doing it for the money.
A little over 2. San Francisco for both. I already live here. And yes I am!
I don’t think it’s worth switching to Symantec, it’s a low offer. Just prepare Leetcode and practice interviews and go for big one. 6-9 months in a new company is not worth it. I switched to a startup 8 months ago and now getting into Microsoft. I feel the startup switch was not needed but it helped me to get into MS.
Do you not think it’ll be a learning experience?
If you plan to switch again in 6-9 months, I don’t recommend it. U will have to defend it in interviews if it’s less than a year. I feel dream big and go for big one
Ah I see I see... that is true. I have an Uber on-site next Tuesday. God damn I just wish I can ace one of these things already.
Good luck.
Is this in consumer or enterprise?
DLP team
You got lowballed at akamai
What’s yours like?
Almost similar except base 132k...new grad
Take the Symantec offer. It’s okay, and more churn is more pressure on pay in general.
Come here and flight bad guys!
By bad guys, did you mean the Symantec management?
Lol
While Akamai is not great, leaving for a new gig and then again in 6-9 months is a waste of energy. Training, on boarding, and then fielding customer support calls at a new company with a new process only to quit? Waste of resume space and time
How many yoe? Location ? Ru software engineer ?
