I worked at Alexa until yesterday. Got put into Focus out of nowhere back in August and got railroaded through the PIP pipeline with unattainable goals and subjective measurements that the manager didn't have to provide evidence for. I'm relieved honestly. That place was a shithole and everyone there had no life outside of work. It was de facto 996.
You were put on PIP because you didn’t deliver anything in the last year you were at Amazon. You closed 0 tickets during your last oncall week, repeated the same thing during every standup (0 progress on any sprint tasks for the last 6 months), never raised CR revisions when numerous engineers left feedback on your CRs, when the bug fixes were simple code changes. Multiple of your CRs were open with no revisions for over a month, and other engineers had to take over your CRs due to production impact. This is just the tip of the iceberg. None of the measurements were subjective, and anyone who evaluated you externally would come to the same conclusion.

Any information about layoffs is perhaps known only to L10s and above right now.. I checked with a few Senior Managers and a director today.. they don't have any additional information at this point. But, the director did say that the directive to do 20% HC reduction came from the top earlier in September and they have done most of it through closing all open positions and closing backfills. The director also mentioned he/she would be surprised if additional HC slashing is done.
Whos your director so i can put his lazy ass in PIP for misinformation.
PIPs are only applicable till L7. Post that no PIP, you're just fired.
