Replaced by H1B folks. Now this engineering team of 11 only has H1B people. I don’t have anything against H1B but this seems very unfair.
How do you know their immigration status? Of the whole team? That seems rude to ask everyone.
@disney what? You don’t know who is on visa from your own team?
That’s fine. I don’t really care who rules the word. I just need stable life lol
All h1b is not Indians. I see a lot of Chinese on H1B as well. It’s just that Legal and illegal immigrants from other countries get the GC fast so mostly Indians and some Chinese get singled out as H1Bs. If they also got GC on time like others, this label of H1B wouldn’t really matter. World is not fair to everyone in some aspect.
Sounds like rage bait lol
It isn’t though. I know it sounds very shocking but it is true
What’s there to be shocked? You only talked about a single common denominator among all who got fired. What was the reason that was given to them for being fired? Do you think they performed at the same level/expectation according to what they were earning… from their management perspective?
Report to DoL
Yeah looking into it
Def report this crap... See if a lawyer will take the case
Same every where. My team at Google 95% Indian and I’m targeted by management. They are trying to replace me with an Indian woman I’m one of the best in the team from performance and skill perspective.
So you’re saying at Google they are also intentionally weeding out U.S citizens to save on cost of labor. This kind of thing can’t and will not stand.
I don’t blame the H1B folks cause ofc they want the job. But this is really shitty thing from the management.
File a complaint. H1B isn't supposed to be used like this
Wat u gonna do bout it Timmy
Actually he/she can do quite a bit about it. First step would be to contact this individuals local representative.
they can do a lot assuming the story is actually true and not ragebait prior to elections. which is assuming a lot
But but but... Americans solve complex challenges and have 4x the skill of H1B folsks. How will the company survive???
It won’t.
So it's a good thing that the US citizens were let go then. They don't have to work for a company that won't even survive! I don't see any issues here.
I dont get this narrative of H1B workers are cheaper, they’re not. Don’t you guys know they have to be paid at market rate to be eligible for H1B?
Adding the legal fees, it’s actually more expensive to hire a H1B. You could argue that H1B workers are more likely to endure shitty work environments though
Ding ding. Also immigration is a pain in the ass they can hire Americans for cheaper

What? How many were let go and replaced? What company is this?
Earlier it was 6 H1B and 5 citizens. They hired 6 H1Bs more saying it is expanding. Then all 5 citizens let go in a month due to “reorganization”. I need this account for referrals so can’t share the company name but DM me if you want to know. It’s a no name startup
How do no name startups afford sponsoring H1Bs?
