I've gotten an interview with a company I used to worked for in a different country. The position is for a Level 2 Software Engineer. Based off of Glassdoor I put down my expectations to be above $175K for Chicago, but the recruiter seemed to this this is more than what the Directors are paid and has given me a breakdown - $110-115K base + 15% bonus + relocation and a chance to be on the fast track to a promotion (5 years of experience). It's a very old and very reputable company; am I being low-balled? #tech #salary #lowballed? #chicago #software #se2
When you say old company I think of not your typical tech company. Can you share the name? That salary can be normal depending on the company.
It's a derivative market company called CME Group.
fast track for promotion is usually a lie. Don't fall for that
Don’t use Glassdoor for salary estimate, it shows the average based on last couple of years which will be below the current market pay
Levels.fyi has a better estimate than glassdoor if the company is listed there. Also fastrack for promotion is total BS
Depends on the company
