Happy Sunday Everyone, So I graduated last year with a double major (not STEM related) and currently work for a F500 Company (Top Consulting Firm) Came in as a standard consultant (NOVA/DC area) but made a transition into cyber/IT by going through company paid for bootcamps. I currently possess Network +, Security +, CySA+ and Azure Fundamnetals certifications. All earned within a year of me starting this job and no background in this. ALSO possess a high level clearence. Will be taking on a project that will have me as a traveling network assesor / engineer in a couple weeks within the firm. Starting salary was 55k but raised to 62k. Everyone else that went throught the same bootcamps are now making 75k (around 65k previously) all because they started as a “consultant level” postion but within the technoloy sector part of the firm. Am I being #underpaid ? Is being paid 75k still being underpaid? I feel that other companies would pay far more even though I have less than a years experience within the IT / cyber field. Any constructive input / opinions are valued thanks!

YOE? Current Title at Booz? Seems low.
Interned 2 summers before graduating so a little over an actual year of experience, currently a cyber security analyst but that will change once I start my new project
Yea if your at booz ur pay is automatically lowballed. Thus im leaving
How long have you worked before leaving?
1.5 years
You’re only underpaid if you can get an offer that pays you more. Why don’t you try and find out?
^ this
How would you both recommend going out and doing so? Just applying to positions?
I thought they don’t tell you the salary until you get the position when you interview?
That’s what blind is for, people report their TCs. Also check levels.fyi
Considering where u live, and your yoe, you’re not underpaid at all
And non stem degree and role in IT
For perspective, college graduates back in 2012 who got jobs as consultants at one of the typical top consultancy firms in NOVA were getting offers around 70-75K.
Exactly, so shouldn’t my pay be higher by that logic?
At the beginning if your career the opportunities matter more than the pay. Don't focus on TC so much. Otherwise your pay will peak too soon into your career.
Out of curiosity, why join Booz Allen in the first place? Interesting how Amazon is grilled every single day, but nobody is talking about actual spy companies that do shady sh*t for living.
Interned there, respectable company where I live especially with government work being popular. Also thought it was a decent place to start my career
Where are you?
Northern Virginia / D.C Area
