Hi guys, I’ve an Amazon onsite after a month. I have been preparing about 2-3 months already and managed to complete about 250-260 leetcode problems including easy, medium, hard(mostly medium). Im little confused if I should keep preparing more question or brush up on system design, leadership skills and revising the questions i already prepared. Interviewing for SDE 2 level. Please guide me through a bit. #amazon #interview
I have to agree - LPs all the way. You need to go into behavioural interviews like a boss - with a cheat sheet of 2-3 situations for each LP, rehearsed openers, and most importantly - good understanding of the nuances of each LP and how Amazonians interpret them. Feel free to DM for more tips and good luck!!
Mind if I DM you as well? I have my onsite next week.
Feel free!
Focus on LPs and design now. LPs are more important than at other places. You need to be able to show coherent design skills at L5. Go over most frequent Amazon Leetcode medium problems
I had recently cracked the interview at Amazon and many of my friends are interviewing and these people got rejected as they had underestimated preparing for LP . Spend good 3-4 days writing down answers for the top possible questions for all the principles. Check out the YouTube channel of Dan Croitor, that helped me a lot. And System design should not be difficult, make sure that you're good with basics and try to focus on database aspects with SQL queries as well. For technical questions you need to prepare outside of leetcode for sure! The situational problem which you face in a typical job, those kind of problems are missing from leetcode and leetcode focuses more on the difficult algorithms with trees and graphs but mostly you're interviewed on strings and array DS problems.
I would definitely look into graphs, min/max heap etc.
Agreed. I am trying to say is basic problems of trees and graph should be enough once you're 250 problems deep in leetcode and try to do more you'll be wasting time on much more complicated problems than needed. Even I was more focused on these topics while preparing but the interview experience was quite different
Thanks for all the responses. It really helped to find the right direction. Appreciate your help guys
Don’t mean to discourage you, but you better have a really really good reason for picking Amazon. If not, 1-2 years down the line, you will be frustrated and want to leave.
LP all the way. If you have solid tech background/experience and completed so many leetcode just make sure you don't get slaughtered in LP you should be fine. For LP answer in STAR format; go deep, back up with data. Slow down and ask questions (for LP and SD questions). We love narratives.
What is LP? I have onsite in one and half month and I am in somewhat similar situation.
Leadership Principles. If you still don't know you are not even close to ready.
