I don’t think Netflix plan to stay afloat with ads allowed subscription tier will work. Goog, Meta, Amazon will be top 3 advertising platforms. Potentially Amazon at number 2. Snap will be at 4. Thoughts? #tech #upRightGuyWisdom #dailyNuggets
Netflix has too many good shows to fail They could also get bought out
Name good shows? I see a bunch of junk lately.
They had these good shows because they had leverage to buy them cheap, with competitors creeping this will not be the case anymore
Something else might kill Netflix but it won't be Amazon Ads specifically ( which is thriving independently of video streaming ) and it won't be ads in general
Amazon’s streaming will not have any real impact on Netflix. Netflix ad tier is a losing bet because there are better platforms to spend advertising dollars on. Netflix plan to retain customers by limiting its subscription rates would not really work because they would not make enough revenue on ads. So, the slow death they are having will continue.
Customers make essential purchases on Amazon. It’s an essential service in this day and age, like google. Netflix is not. Snap and meta are free. Netflix is not. So, where would you spend your ad dollars?
The problem for Netflix in that they have to earn money to keep streaming alive and the way they are spending money on shows is not sustainable. Amazon streaming doesn’t need to earn money in the short term, Amazon generates enough revenue from other businesses. Ads is just one.
Netflix is cash flow positive. How is it not sustainable?
They are right now, what happens when people start cutting back. Is Netflix essential no. Neither is prime but people get that for free. Customers have to pay extra for Non free content on prime and other services. That’s the core difference. As more and more subscribers find themselves paying for so many streaming services…. They will eventually cut some. What keeps Netflix in that game is high demand content. But that’s not cheap and that’s where they need to fund it from their streaming earnings. Amazon doesn’t, apple doesn’t… this is why Netflix wants to get into ads since a streaming service which only generates revenue from streaming is hard to sustain. It’s a self fulfilling cycle. Low revenue leads to less money to create good content and bad content leads to lesser money to create good content… this only works in the best case scenario like when Netflix was a pioneer in streaming. With increased competition from people who don’t depend on streaming revenue alone, Netflix won’t find it so easy
I dont remember last time i log into Netflix. But it comes free with my mobile plan tho

Netflix introducing ads this late isn’t going help with costs, they’ve been ad free so long that subscribers may abandon ship sooner rather than later
