I am using someone else's account, so I don't work at Rubrik. I have an Amazon Alexa AI onsite interview coming up. I am a master's student in my final year in data science. In the past I have worked as a Strat/ Quant at Goldman Sachs for 3 years. I have not done a lot of core computer science classes (Undergrad Maths) but have a good hold on Data structures and Algo, databases and other ML coursework like NLP, big data, data mining, AI etc. I have been practising leetcode and currently at 150 (20-70-10 easy- medium- hard split). I have no experience in system design. I am shooting for l5 so that my work ex at GS is taken into account. Would request advise from everyone regarding my prep strategy? #amazon #alexa #ai #google #microsoft #apple #linkedin #facebook #netflix #paypal #square #goldmansachs #bloomberg
You will almost certainly have System Design questions. Also, be sure to prepare stuff for the leadership principles. You can use your experience at GS for that. Btw., how were your online assessment questions?
The online assessment had 2 coding questions ( 1 array string and another dfs) and a behavioral assessment for 90 minutes. It was very simple. Could finish in 30 minutes.
Thank you
If u can do medium level in 30 minutes + familiar with LP (great example). Then u likely can get offer. Depends on performance, they may downlevel u. My teammate had 3 yoe but still downlevel to L4.
Thanks! Mostly worried about the system design part
Sup, who’s your Rubrik friend? ;)
For l5 there will be 1 system design. 1 coding and 1 data structure question. System design is usually about the groups core technology. So practice different scenarios of getting data from Alexa and whiteboard. Always design for scale from the start and say that multiple times. Also don’t forget LPs, get about 5 work examples of all LPs. Don’t bluff on LPs.
Similar situation. Had to study algos and system design for interviews since never took those classes ... This link is gold: https://engineerseekingfire.com/how-to-prepare-for-software-engineering-interviews/

[India]You are dumb to think Tech people earn more than Govt employees these days
I'm fairly certain you will have system design questions for L5 role so you should brush up on that. Read Amazon's leadership principles.
Like I said I have not done core CS courses on OS, computer networks and distributed systems. I am doing Grokking the system design. Will that be sufficient ?
I haven't done that course but that should help
