Amazon: Alexa AI division

Recently I interviewed with a team in Alexa AI division and I am expecting an offer as the interview went well. How are the projects and work culture within Alexa AI org in general? And do they vary widely by location? Any insights will be appreciated. TC`- 0, A student who will be graduating soon. :) Thank you.

Even within the org, it will vary team to team in regards to work culture. The org has both interesting and monotonous work. So hard to say... Regardless, congrats!

Some teams doing incredibly cool work. Some, less so. But most engineering and science teams have big scope relative to their headcount. This means great impact opportunities but not a place to rest and vest - WLB varies but mostly real work, not just ops. This org generally has lots of smart, hard working, passionate people overall, among the SDEs and Applied Scientists. Pay attention to who the hiring manager is of course - this also makes a huge difference in your experience.

Can you elaborate on Pay attention to who the hiring manager is. What should one be looking for?

The usual things - Smart, very technical, track record of success, signs of empathy.
