I expect I may receive an offer from Amazon soon for a 12mo SDE role in Seattle and the recruiter told me that 160-180k is what they may sell me for ( no benefits or relocation). According to levels fyi the typical range for a SDE III (my counterparts are at this level I think) is 200k + stock + bonus. The recruiter says I'm the only candidate of 3 that passed and the last interviewer gave me a strong yes. Generally contractors should be paid a premium, right? Is what they are offering fair? I am not super picky but I have other local options that may offer better opportunities. YOE 7 $0 TC unemployed
As far as I'm aware, contractors at FAANG are basically cheap labor.
Yeah I was suspecting that. Amazon apparently only has 0 FTE budget and 10 contractor budget this year for this team.
You won’t be able to negotiate, start at that salary, 6 months in ask for more
You mean they don't negotiate? Or that it's not smart to negotiate from my position?
They contract agencies rarely negotiate.
