I recently accepted an L8 position at Amazon, and as a L8 I am going through a very extensive background check. I was notified by Sterling that my background check was completed like a week ago, but my recruiter keeps on telling me that the background check is not complete. And is delaying my start by another week, which is the 3rd time my start date has been pushed back. Any thoughts or any experience with this.#amazon #hiring
I believe there is that and another that’s county or local not sure though but not uncommon. Unfortunately recruiting poc is the only one that can help you. But you can help us - what’s your comp package and role
Typically the company reviews the report from sterling. The employer makes the final call on whether the background checks outs
According to my recruiter apparently even that function is outsourced.
Omfg 🤦♂️
Pip background check 😆
Why I am concerned :/
For me there was a 1-2 week gap until Amazon updated my BC status to completed after the external contractor updated his. It didn't affect my start date though
That is expected, however my recruiter not sure what she did but did not send out my request to Stearling till the Friday before my start date. And delayed my start date 3 times 1-week at a time. Even though she told me this can take up to 4 weeks. With that said I am on week 2 of 4.
It's great that Sterling completed the check, it took a month for my husband's to wrap up and even with him providing all contact names and numbers, he had to send W2s and pay stubs for his jobs for the past 10 years via unsecured email to Sterling's call center in India Getting a subsequent security clearance was easier than dealing with Sterling
Lol. Yes, someone called and asked for my ssn. I thought it was a joke. I consulted for fb a their employee number 8 used to run AP on excel. I get it the big team hasn’t really invented in back office transformation. But damn, call and ask for SSN over the phone.
Congrats L8 is up the ladder 🪜
Keep interviewing - never have only one option and never never have that only option be Amazon.
How many years back for amazon? Is this in the US?
