For those of you that have an Amazon Echo, you know that the way to engage with the device is to say the word "Alexa". Amazon also owns the web analytics website, www.alexa.com, which Amazon acquired in 1999. Does anyone know if there is a connection between www.alexa.com and the name of Amazon's voice assistant on the Echo device?? Is this just a coincidence or is there some kind of business rationale behind it? If so, what is it? Thanks!
My thought would be that we always name things after Amazon firsts. It was maybe our first analytics company?

the story/rumor is that because Alexa as a term fell out of day to day use (and because we own the trademark) it was a good unique trigger word.
