Canceling debt isn’t inflationary or costing tax payers
Hey - not on the fintech team, but AWS and I have a pretty good w-l balance and environment can change depending on where I'm working from. Good portion can be at home which is appealing to me. They do push their employees at times which is probably where the w-l balance challenges come in. Hope that helps!
Crappy org! Coding standards are really low
very true
Go to any other org but fintech. No w-l balance there.
There are several teams inside FinTech. I work for one currently. I don’t think it’s crazy here. However, I still don’t like it.
Why not?
Good team to join, get promoted and leave. Leadership is terrible, turnover is high.
It is very political in FinTech, join only if you feel you have good connection with the hiring manager and have a good chance of getting quick promo.
Is that friend not educated enough to ask it here directly. Amazon work life is the worst one amongst top companies.
Dude, you really expect Amazon to scare ppl away saying "yes, our work-life balance sucks, like everybody says"? Also, let's be fair, environment and w-l balance can vary from team to team within the same company. Plus, the whole point of this app is for ppl to discuss what is not openly said... So obviously I am not looking for the obvious answer... Maybe somebody inside Amazon close to FinTech team can share specific, useful, interesting info.
My work life balance at Amazon is great and I rarely see people I work with online or in the office outside regular working hours. I come in to play ping pong in the evenings with my wife and it's a ghost town in most Seattle Amazon buildings by 6 or 7, and team members are NOT usually online from home then either. I'm sure that some secret projects teams get slammed with 60 hour weeks but most teams at Amazon DON'T work those crazy hours. I'm talking tech here, business teams may have it worse, but they have it worse everywhere. What is true is that I work harder WHILE AT WORK at Amazon than I did for any previous employer. I'm just fucking busy during the day. Really busy. I used to slack at my last job but not much at Amazon. But I come to work at ten and leave most days at five and only a couple times a month am I having to get something done in an evening. I'm basically working 7hr most days with a couple evenings a month pushing that back to 40/wk overall.
