Amazon Interview - Feedback

Just completed my L6 loop interviews last week. Received the following from HR. I wish they had provided more feedback. Anyone else get more feedback then this? So does this mean I can immediately apply for other opportunities? "During the course of our recruiting efforts, we have come across many highly qualified candidates, such as you. Throughout this process we carefully evaluate each candidate’s background and interests against our projected workloads and general staffing needs. We are impressed with your background and qualifications, however after careful consideration, the hiring team has decided to not move forward with you for this role. We will be placing your resume back into the database for all of our recruiters and hiring managers to review and consider for other roles within Amazon. It was a pleasure meeting you and thank you again for taking the time to speak with us. We hope that you will continue to be interested in future opportunities at Amazon. We wish you well in your pursuit of a new position, and thank you for your continued interest. I am not able to share any type of interview feedback, but if you do have any other questions, please feel free to reach out"

It means you passed the loop but not for the position and so no cool off period and you can apply to other roles.

No it doesn’t. You didn’t pass the loop. It means they weren’t inclined to hire you. But you were “recycled” for future roles. You would still need to loop in the future.

Did your recruiter or a hiring manager help you choose the specific position or did you apply for a job opening directly? My recruiter told me to apply for a specific team and it would be very odd if I receive a similar feedback.

I applied for the position.

I think it sounds like the hiring manager liked someone else just a little more. No reflection on you at all.

This is a respectful way of letting you know it’s a ding. You will have to repeat the process for a new role.

Don’t take too serious about anything before “however”

Amazon IMud43 Apr 19, 2022

Ask if you are eligible for other roles, if you are, you didn't pass the tech side of the loop, but did OK at behavioral. If you aren't you prolly didn't do well at behavioral

Amazon sucks at providing any feedback so move on find other orgs.

This happened to me. I came in for an L5 ads role- was told i was essentially great for amazon, not right for this role/level. Within a week they reached out with two available L4 roles. I had an abbreviated loop (met with both HMs and one additional teammate) and was hired at L4. It is called “recycling”.

So they offered you a position one level below what you had initially interviewed for?

Amazon TUEX42 Apr 19, 2022

Re-leveling happens a ton. Unfortunately and my own manager admits it, that the leveling decisions are a lot more misses than hits.

Amazon TUEX42 Apr 19, 2022

I’ve had similar experience. The recruiter should be able to offer some alternative roles. They won’t give you feedback directly from the panel. What role were you applying for?

TPM Level 6. I have 18 YOE.

Recruiter should offer alternative positions. Check with them. They have internal slack channels to find a different team match. It will be a matter of time. Reach out to your recruiter to find out more.

Recruiter responded back stating I can apply for any other roles that may peek my interest. No waiting period.

From my experience (mentioned in diff comment above) it was only a week before I was interviewing w dif role! I would say aside from the annoyance of more interviews this is not a bad thing.

Same thing happened to me yesterday! Hopefully you can find another role and get hired on soon.
