Is it worth taking Amazon offer Interviewed for L5 Program Manager role and they are offering me L4 Program Manager role Currently I am on contract role and had to take it as I was laid off. Its for 6 months with possible extension and already make 150K L4 base is 85K and TC may not even go above 100 Should I take and progress in Amazon or its not worth YoE: 4 #supplychain#program manager#amazon
What org is this ?
It was generic interview for PM role. They were just going to place the candidates to wherever the requirement is. Mostly Amazon logistics
That team is utterly toxic and ridiculously pathetic. Won’t recommend to my enemy. Attrition is probably the highest in Amazon. DM me with the name of the hiring manager when you find out and I can tell you more.
It really depends on your circumstances and goals. You are taking a significant pay cut and it may take along time to move up. I would challenge you to improve your interview answers and come in at the right level. There are a lot of YouTube videos on how to stand out.
Got it
The only concern is my Visa situation at this point. Only one advantage would be Amazon would take care of my Green Card Process and since its global company I can potentially have opportunities anywhere.
Please don’t. You may take atleast 2 years (if stuck with bad manager or reorgs) for you to go to L5.
Ofcourse its based on performance, but is it ok to ask if they can promote me within a year. And how much is pay jump from L4 to L5?
I have seen folks getting promoted in 10 months, so it’s possible. Though you be put in the lowest l5 band. Recommend that you negotiate for L5 now itself.
Promotions at AWS and Amazon are ridiculous and not remotely transparent. Don’t take the 4 it is a trap that will take you years to fix.
Absolutely not worth it. Promotions are so ridiculous in Amazon and this seems like a setback. I'd counter and take a hard stance with HR and say you interviewed for a L5 role and that's what you should get.
