I’m a (recently promoted) L7 PMT at Amazon and a former manager is recruiting me to Meta. I’m curious about comp difference between: Amazon L7 Principle PMT (current 2024 comp expected 415k, due to recent promo, expecting ~500k in 2025) Meta L6 I checked Levels.fyi and it’s not accurate for Amazons PMT range so I think crowdsourcing may be better.
What pays more at meta? PM or TPM?
Pm by quite a bit Keep in mind - there is no technical product management role. Just product management. TPMs are technical *program* managers and they have very different expectations and pay bands
Amazon has this concept of technical product managers. A lot of the retail PMs were really category managers back in the day, hence why Technical PM (PMT) was introduced PMs were paid way less than market, but they’re given inflated titles. For eg: new grad MBAs with zero product experience are given senior PM titles (doesn’t happen anywhere else). But paid 35-55% below market for big tech sr pm. technical PMs are paid more, but still way below market. OP is a principal PM making 425. In other big tech (excluding Microsoff) Principal starts at 550. OPs pay range is <50th pct SPM for most co’s Meta is known for top of market pay, And huge huge bands. They will beat your current pay in their offer, and you can stretch it up by negotiating
TPM definitely pays more. Please, I am a TPM in AWS security. Would you be inclined to providing me a referral?
if it's for a PM role, levels is pretty accurate for L6 make sure it's not a TPM role - that's much different
Its a product role coming from principal product - tech at Amazon
@geKe36 would love to get your thoughts on PM hiring at Meta for this year. What can we expect in terms HC growth etc? Want to interview with Meta this year and trying to understand if it would worth investing the time in preps. Thank you 🙏
I’ve seen folks getting 600k for Meta l6 pm during peak season and before layoff season
Meta IC6 can hit $600k
How much is salary?
which do you prefer to get laid off from?
500-600 K depending on location and part of the band
Are you getting recruited for a TPM or PM role at Meta? Big differences in comp between the two
Product not program
At Amazon PMT is product
