I'm joining Amazon Bay Area office, have no experience and I recently read lots of stories about managers targeting new grads for pips. I am graduating in December and Joining in same month. I feel like I shouldn't join Amazon before joining Amazon. Should I focus on preparing leetcode and change company as soon as possible or what kind of preparation should I do to survive? I mean what frameworks/languages should I learn ? I only know C++. And developed REST apis for personal project. Every suggestions are welcomed. Thank you guys in advance. #amazon #amazonaws
Do your best. Go with full confidence. Try to deliver and show engagement. Believe in yourself. If you lose your job at amazon , you can easily get another one
Relax bro. You drank the Blind Kool-aid. Those with negative experiences are the only who speak out here. If you are technically competent, you will learn quickly and deliver. If not... Then maybe Amazon isn't for you. It is not a rest and best company like G
I am good at learning quickly but not good at web development at all I tried but couldn't do anything as good as what I'm expecting. Still thanks 👍 for replying 😊. Can you suggest which language or framework should I learn to survive in Amazon ?
Amazon was the first company I worked for, it was the only one I could get in at the time (other wouldn't even look at my CV, I come from no name college), I got pipped in a very traumatic way after ~2 years in the company (just after coming back from surgery). After that I could join two other companies (including Meta) and interview and get offers from many others. I also could learn a lot about architecture, ops, AWS, etc during my time there. When I joined I had only 1k dollars in my bank account and when I left I had about 150k net worth. Even if you are in the worst case scenario (being pipped), you still can get a lot (money, knowledge, brand name). If you are among the lucky ones that find a good manager/team: it's even better! I would advise you to go with an open mind and try to get the most from this experience. Ofc if you smell bad management, are put on PIP and so on, go leetcoding.
I found you comment very helpful. Thanks 👍. How many leetcode you solved to get into meta ?
Not much TBH, I think around 50 questions (I got premium and did only Meta tagged questions).
I came out of a promo review, L4 with 13 months in the role (fresh grad) got promoted to sde-2. So, this too happens. Go with positive mindset and learn as much as you can in first year.
Nice this type of comments should be more on blind about Amazon. My recruiter told me the same that if you work hard you will be promoted by next year
Any special details about the L4?
What's your TC?

You’ll be fine, ignore the noise. My personal experience at Amazon has been great. You’ll want to demonstrate the learn and be curious lp when you join, set up time with the other engineers to get to know them and what they do, ask your mentor for reading / learning material. You’ll be fine OP. Amazon isn’t has bad as Blind makes it sound..
Thanks bro. It helped a lot. Can you suggest which language or framework should I learn to survive in Amazon ?
Depends on the team, but for the most part most of Amazon codes in Java
