Current TC is 270k with 6 yoe Amazon is offering 288k target TC for L5. has the typical 5/15/40/40 vesting schedule with year 1 sign on 100k and year 2 74k. They claimed that was the max, but how high can I push them? 385-400k would be an easy accept for me
Max in Seattle is 325k without having to go through exceptions. In Bay Area/NYC it's 358k.
Assume any exceptions would require competing offers at a minimum to get?
Yes, and even then it's unlikely to get the exception since it requires VP approval. Would've been easy to get such exceptions in 2021 but not today.
Aren’t you afraid? With all the horror stories here
Of joining AWS? A little. But blind says every place I've ever worked is a horrible cess pit. For enough $$$ I'll risk it for a few years.
Great attitude. Also Amazon is not that bad. There are good days and bad days but certainly not as toxic as bound makes it out to be.
Hey, can I dm you?
Sure
No L5 is making 380. Take the offer. L5 starts at 252.
288k is barely a bump for me. Not worth the risk of leaving my current situation. Might just not be a good fit at this time.
You're right Don't risk it for the name Unless it's a central AWS team Try for senior next
If you have actually analyzed the job market over the years then most people don't quit or jump ships unless it's an uplevel.
Would not switch for that small of a bump, especially not to Amazon...
385k is doable. Under 300k is not worth it
385k, not these days. It isn’t 2021
I’d push for 315, but you don’t have much leverage without competing offer. 288k is a tad less than what I’d expect out of an external offer, but not out of the ordinary these days.
so the sign on bonus isn’t included in that TC number of the poll?
I am assuming they rolled up first year sign on bonus and the first year RSUs (5%) into equity. Amazon comp is annoying to input, since blind doesn’t count sign on bonus in its TC calculation
Yep, that's what I did.
Current tc and yoe?
270k and 6 yoe
