I have seen more women put on PIP then men, one Indian guy in my org put all the women (not Indian) on PIP.

Yeah, she was bad…. Diversity hire from some no name school and no name consultant company.
I think pip is performance based. Sometimes it also depends on how your manager thinks about you so it’s a bit more subjective. Amazon may have diversity hire based on race and gender but don’t think that applies to pip.
Yes Amazon does have diversity targets for managers wherein they are required to increase the number of women in the team. This would lead to them not PIPing them so as to not decrease the number of women on the team and miss their diversity target. Hence, men would be more likely to be piped in this scenario.
I wonder how is the diversity hire target communicated to SDM from the top.
