Recently got an offer from Amazon for a BI engineer role, unsurprisingly they are using Redshift , myself has been using MS SQL all my life, during the interview they ask generic SQL question not PostgresSQL specific question .. they didn’t even care if I have experience in RedShift , for anyone who work for Amazon before , do they actually provide training for Redshift or they expect me to learn it myself on the job from first day… #amazon #businessintelligence
Don't worry. There's plenty of resources to learn. And Redshift is nice to work with.
Do you think there is an edge to be a redshift expert outside Amazon ?
Plenty of companies use AWS so yes.
We expect you to spend extra time outside of work learn and ramp up within your first month, else we would have to hire another guy again
That sounds Amazonian
The difference should be pretty minimal. You can always Google the syntax right? Is this an L4 offer? If it’s for L5, you’ll have to ramp up pretty quickly with limited help
Know internally as Redshit
It’s pretty minimal difference syntax wise unless we are talking about redshift spectrum tables etc.
Its not much different
I heard it’s very different , guess I’ll find out soon
