Recent news about Amazon joining SpaceX and Trader Joe’s suing the National Labor Relations Board is incredibly concerning for all US workers. They’re saying the NLRB board is constructed in a way that is unconstitutional, which means they’re attempting to dismantle the credibility of the board all together. This is a clear and direct action BY AMAZON to take away the very minuscule worker’s rights we have in the USA. This board protects our right to unionize. There are rumors that Amazon is preparing to take this all the way to the Supreme Court. Article: https://fortune.com/2024/02/17/amazon-spacex-trader-joes-nlrb-unconstitutional/ If this goes through, NO US WORKER WILL HAVE THE RIGHT TO UNIONIZE. Ever.
I have wanted the destruction of unions except in rare cases and certain industries for a long time. Their leaders are just fat cat liars like the chicago teachers union. Good riddance.
I hear that, but their leaders are just equal and opposite to corporate SLT’s and government officials. The balance is often necessary.
“If this goes through, NO US WORKER WILL HAVE THE RIGHT TO UNIONIZE. Ever.” Wrong. Nothing can prevent a “right to unionize” (which isn’t actually a “right” anyways, you only have a “right” to peaceful assembly) — it’s just that collective bargaining means collective unemployment if negotiations fail. Works the same way as free speech: you can say all the racial slurs you want, but that doesn’t mean people (including your employer) have to hang around with you
Strongly disagree. It’s the only board that protects private sector employee rights to join together WITH OR WITHOUT A UNION to improve wages and working conditions. It is a right. It is a federal law. And this is the only board that oversees it. https://www.nlrb.gov/#:~:text=The%20National%20Labor%20Relations%20Board,their%20wages%20and%20working%20conditions.
Tech should have unionized a long time ago in my opinion. The number of ‘pick me boys’ all assume they will get invited to the high table is insane.
Nonsense. Anyone can unionize and bargain with their employer - regardless of the NLRB. If an employer does something illegal, sue them.
That’s great in theory. The issue is harder to pursue as an individual which is why people ban together to form a union. “Together ape strong!”
How do you know this? The NLR board is the only agency enforcing the NLRA.
Disgusting
