I recently joined Amazon as a PMT. Would love some advice from fellow Amazonians / alumni on what I should do to thrive (utopian), or conversely, not get PIPed (dystopian) TC : 320k Level : L6

Write documents yourself. It can be tempting to make others update documents you need to present because they are the subject matter experts. However, that prevents you from diving deep on anything and learning. Then, when you inevitably get asked questions on your doc you don’t know enough to answer.
Thank you, I didn’t know people made others write documents, will keep that in mind
Follow conventional model of sucking up to L7 and L8 leaders on how great they are and you are excited to learn from them. They’ll take care of your growth and promotion. Don’t try to change anything big. Amazon is not as advanced as you might have thought when you joined. Getting basics right is hard here.
What if you don’t do that, are there negative consequences?
That TC is too low for L6, did you not negotiate?
Coming from Microsoft, lol
Lol I'm at 250K for the same role and level

Welcome to Amazon. Been here for a little over 6 years. One common issue I have noticed with PMTs is that they’re many times technically not deep. They lack the understanding and generally underestimate engineering things. To thrive, if you’re able to work engineering management in addition to getting technically deeper, it’ll be pretty cool for you. Overtime, this earn them a reputation of someone who pisses of engineers easily. I hight recommend innovation and am all for it, but don’t come up with unrealistic MVPs that must be delivered in iteration 1. Also, TC and level? 😄
Added! Thank you for such a genuine response. 😀 Curious, are you an engineer?
Yes, L6 Sde bay
