Amazon Vs Yahoo Intern to FT ratio
Hi , I Currently have two Internship offers from Amazon and Yahoo. looking at the situation in the market, Yahoo's history has been like they would not offer unless they want to hire you as FT, whereas Amazon has a history of converting 85% interns into FT provided you perform well. i had few points that i would focus on: 1. Department - Yahoo - it is vertical support group(chances of dependecy on the dept is high) amazon - i am not yet sure about it (would soon get to know) 2. conversion ratio in this time - yahoo people who worked at yahoo says very high chances of coverting FT whereas with amazon - the brand value and considering other things opportunites would be more. Can someone who work at Amazon shed some light on how is amazon doing for intern-ft conversion? Is it dependent on the department/orgs ? if yes which orgs/dept are performing well for amazon or doing well in general? also how easy/difficult it is to find an internal opportunity in amazon if i seem to join in and find FT conversion ? any inputs would be helpful. thank you #Internship #Amazon #Yahoo #engineering #software #swe
I would suggest not to join Amazon where manager doesn't have the time to skill or mentor you.they are so much burden with other works and have less time for managing their team members. Join a company where you learn for your leadership..
Yahoo sucks now that they got brought by private equity. Just trying to cut costs so the books look good in 2 years when they sell

yahoo is much better for intern-fulltime conversion rate than amz. we are still losing SWEs even these days because of low TC. so we have to keep hiring and have not delayed or rescinded any offer. if u like full remote internship + great WLB and dont mind lower TC, go for yahoo. + there are some interns, NG who hate remote work. ur choice.
If you’re one of the unlucky 15% at Amazon, you’ll still have a much easier time getting FT at yahoo or equivalent. IMO taking the yahoo internship is just lowering your ceiling
Not true. yahoo has been a big feeder to traditional faang due to the scale of problems it solves. I had no problem jumping to faang, and most of my team mates too. There is nothing like “lower your ceiling” or prestige irrespective of yahoo or any other brand. However there are some benefits to be had choosing Amazon vs yahoo in the current market. Kid just pick up the job where the project excites you and make sure it’s not something fancy ( metaverse, lab x , self driving etc ) to survive annual purge.
i heard Yahoo for sure converts intern to FT given you perform well. i am not sure how pandemic is affecting yahoo but can that be said for amazon under current circumstances ?
