How is the yearly bonus and stock refresh program at Amazon?

I thought Blind supports keyword search?

There is no yearly bonus. Stock refresh is good if you’re labeled as a high performer. For everyone else it’s not all that much.

No bonus. Amazon has a total compensation strategy meaning that if they want you to earn X on the upcoming year, they'll modify your base salary and give you stocks if needed. This however takes into account ALL compensation, including existing grants. So if the stocks goes higher than predicted, then you might not get a new grant at all because you are already over target due to your unvested shares from previous grants.

That’s so fucked up.

Someday down to the road when the stock goes down it’ll be interestingly see if they do the reverse and make you whole! Seriously it’s kind of messed up that you don’t necessarily benefit from stock appreciation.

Bogus ...I don't like Amazon for same reason !!

Formula is very easy: (your perf score) * 0 + 1 banana = your bonus amount

So true! Works for me too.

If a high performer it can work great. With the stock appreciation I’ve been 20-80% over my TC for almost every year I’ve been there. I’m L7 and get most of my comp in stock.

What's your total comp?

Salesforce pastry OP Jan 18, 2018

But did you get stock refresher?

Amazon KYNQ07 Jan 18, 2018

The amount has depended on my prior accrued stock. If I had already awarded stock vesting in the next 2 years that meant I was already exceeding target comp, then the amount was small , or one year none because the stock had done so well that I already had almost double my TC plus had shares vesting another 3(?) years. When I first got here from MS I though it was BS. But now I see the value. The other thing is that if the stock goes down or doesn’t hit the target 15% gain, they “make whole” to give you more to make up for the prior year where your TC didn’t happen as expected. That didn’t happen at MS

What does makeup for prior year mean? Do they make sure your pay doesn't decline wrt the stock price past year? Or do they make sure you don't drop below their target pay formula? I am at Amazon now too. Joined recently.
