L4 Google -> 45 interviews, 5 offers, AMA
Yes I found it strange when they are asking. Especially being so specific as to include stocks and bonus
After my flight and on-site was scheduled, I had my scheduled prep call with the recruiter. I was told what the offer would be and was asked if I wanted to move forward. I was really caught off guard. I said yes even though the numbers were lower than I was expecting. I interviewed and got the formal offer, which was the same as we discussed on the phone. I was told it was basically the final offer as it was the high end of the band. I declined.
Damn. That sucks.. They did say they'll have a call before the interview.. But I was hoping the offer would change based on interview performance
I am basically in the same boat as you. I am interviewing for L4 SDE Seattle location. Before scheduling the onsite, recruiter asked me expected TC in email questionaire to which I responded 130-145K. I might have low balled myself. What did you do and how should I proceed as likely I am going to have the same prep call. Thanks in advance.
I had given expectations as 155-163 for L5 BIE.. However, I didn't give her an answer till the day after offer was made. They didn't give me numbers till I gave numbers first, but I felt I was Lowballed a lot. So I believe it depends on you how you handle it.. I refused to give her numbers during prep call, and basically said I haven't done my research well since equity based compensation is new to me, and told her I'd get back to her once I had better data
They should disclose the range to you!
