Why I Find Free Palestine Inspiring
Left Amazon at L6 ten months ago. Someone on a team there reached out this week about an L7 role. Is it even possible to loop for it? I’ve searched past threads and it seems like “maybe.” How much influence will my former manager have? I left with a “HV+” rating, and for a position with a higher title than my former manager’s, who...made some snarky remarks to me about it when he found out. Generally what’s the boomerang process?
Boomerang within 6 months, you dont need an interview and you can only come back in the same level. 6months to 1 year, if coming back to same level, the HM can opt to skip the interview. If coming back for a level up after 6months then interview is a must. They will review your past ratings...
Can someone have multiple offers to negotiate level or salary when boomerang back? Just curious if there has been such things before ?
HR systems don’t really let you pursue multiple jobs at Amazon at once.
How do stocks work as boomerang and can you get new vests if you leave after 4 year initial vest and financially speaking is it in your best interest to earn stock this way?
You will get new vests with a new 4 year cycle. You might end up getting more for year 3 and 4, but most probably take a loss for years 1 and 2. But the expectation is that had you continued to stay, you would have leveled up or reach TT rating by the time you hit the 3 year mark.
They will want to make an example of you. Very unlikely you will be rehired at L7, because they don’t want the team to think they can boomerang and level up. They’ll say you haven’t been away long enough to demonstrate L7 examples at the new place. Happened to me.
Yes, that makes a lot of sense. It’s for a different team, and I can easily see this scenario being the case.
If it's AWS, they are more vigilant about level up for boomerangs #unlikely
Just do it. In CDO I've seen examples of people leaving as L7 and coming back as L8 in a year. Just do it
That’s awesome. What’s CDO by the way? Forgive my ignorance.
Not AWS
CDO = Consumer Digital Other
HV+ rating seems dangerously close to something else
If he is HV+, he must have provided AID to his teammates
