Too much risk owning stock in company that employs you. If company does bad not only will stock price go down, but you might lose job. Diversify a bit.
You can just buy on Robin Hood, there are no programs to get discounts on stock. You should get some stock as a signing bonus, and each year should get more grants that will vest over the next 2 years. Typically if you've worked there a while you'll have a ton of invested amzn stock, so most people would invest in IVV or SPDY to derisk their portfolio.
When are you joining? There is an open window where Amazon employees are allowed to by AMZ stock. Please contact Amazon legal team for guidance.
